Another Busy Week
8 September 2016 / Uncategorized
What a busy week it was! On Saturday I had time to play around in my studio with different designs of leaves and Sunday we celebrated father’s day with our children.
On Monday the new week started with a workshop at the Sherwood Community Centre with Brisbane City Council’s GOLD Program.
GOLD = Growing Old Living Dangerously
Under the guidance of Deberan Wright, an Art Teacher at the Logan Artists Association, we were introduced to Powdered Inks and Gel Medium.
So for me it was a first to play around with these mediums. It got a lot messier than we expected. The intensity of the colour pigments in the Ink Powder mixed with the Gel Medium surprised all of us.
After the messy playful Monday it was another workshop at the Logan Art Gallery on Tuesday. The theme was
‘Up, up and away’ Papercut animation workshop for adults with artist Pamela See. Use contemporary technology to create a shadow animation from papercuts of flying ‘paper cuttings’ objects.
and I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Pamela introduced us to the technique of ‘Scherenschnitt’, an old german form of silhouette paper cutting. We were free to choose our design, but Pamela should be able to use it in a short film animation.
We left the computer animation to the younger generation and concentrated on the paper cutting. As I was doing a lot of work with leaves the last week I continued with this scheme and was quite happy with the results.
Wednesday was a perfect day for a visit to the Condensery Art Gallery at Toogoolawah with some members of mARTa’s Art Group and to meet Hettty van Boven from the Somerset Art Society for the first time.
I was quite surprised about the quality of the Gallery and the quality of the exhibition of SASI Members
