Australian flora always inspired my art as it is everywhere around me. So this time I decided to paint the gum leaves using natural colours in many different shades and paint them in a negative painting technique, so lighter leaves will be upfront, while getting darker towards the background. I collected a bunch of these fresh gum leaves with flowers from my backyard and laid them out on the table for this painting.

This original painting of ‘Australian White Gum’ is in watercolour on canvas board. It has been protected with two layers of gloss varnish to bring out the bright colours. The dimensions of the painting is 40cm x 50cm and it is framed with a 46cm x 56cm x 2cm recycled black/white frame without mat or glass, allowing you to hang it immediatly.
