This pebble painting was inspired by our last visit to Carnarvon Gorge where we saw man of these small stone towers. Tourists leave ROCKS piled precariously high at the creek beds as trail markers of their visit. The stacking of these rocks had become very popular in recent years.
The official name for deliberately stacked rocks is ‘cairns’. The word is Gaelic, and means “mound of stones built as a memorial or landmark.”
