Venus – after Botticelli

Botticelli’s original painting of the naked goddess Venus represents rebirth and new hope. In my version of the portrait of Botticelli’s Venus I mainly paid attention to her face, and hairstyle and emphasized the way she wore her long hair. I painted her face free of blemishes and only shaded it to distinguish the lighter and darker sides.

This ‘Venus’ is an original acrylic painting on a 30cm x 40cm x 4cm deep stretched canvas using mixed media. It is protected with 2 layers of gloss acrylic varnish with the edges finished in acrylic paint, It can hang unframed as a hanging wire has been attached to its back.

Because of the size of the painting, it is categorised as “small format art”. These art works are considered dynamic collectibles, as an art lover can build a collection of small sized original paintings by theme, artist, medium or even just a similar colour.
