Winter in Canada

This new body of work didn’t start with a vision or a concept but with the exploration of movement and colour. Choosing a selection of colours that perfectly supplement each other and then using experimental pouring techniques, I let the acrylic mixture create its own mysterious forms. The results always surprise me. The same colour palette can be used over and over again and still resulting in every single art piece being different as so many factors are affecting the results. The resulting pour decides what the painting will be.

For this experimental technique I choose nature’s colours of blue, grey, green and brown, alternating with white, creating mysterious images and shapes  almost by magic. It does not need any embellishment as this would take away from the freedom of this piece. Everyone can search and find different aspects in the painting and can have a different interpretation of the piece.

The result of this pour reminded me of an aerial view of the frost covered landscape in the rugged canadian wilderness with it’s frozen lakes and streams so I decided to call this painting ‘Winter in Canada’. As it is an abstract version it can be hung in any direction, whichever style you prefer.

This original painting of ‘Winter in Canada’ was created on a  500mm x 310mm x 3.2mm Masonite Panel and is framed with a 620mm x 450mm x 30mm modern white frame protected by 2mm perspex for easy shipping.
